Dartmouth Food Festival: Eat Your Words

Guild member Anna Turns has curated this year's line-up for Eat Your Words – a series of thought-provoking debates, talks and discussions which will take place at the Dartmouth Food Festival on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 October.
Award-winning TV presenter and writer Kate Haskell will explore the relationship between restaurants and their customers in ‘Is the customer really always right?'. Joining Kate in discussion will be top chefs and restaurateurs Mitch Tonks and Freddy Bird. Shane Holland – Executive Chairman of Slow Food in the UK – will consider the future of meat-eating and meat production with two West Country producers, Peter Greig and James Whetlor, plus Guild member and vegetarian eco-chef Tom Hunt. Christine McFadden, Guild member and flour aficionado, teams up with Naomi Devlin to praise the pros of ‘free from’ flours and challenge preconceptions about gluten-free cooking. Julie Waddell, CEO and founder of Moorish, will join Guild members Romy Gill MBE and Charlotte Pike to share their top tips for aspiring start-up food businesses. Plus Luke Holder talks to festival favourite Orlando Murrin about the #chefsagainstplastic movement.
Kitchen Confidential concludes the Eat Your Words programme on Sunday morning with a lively Q&A featuring a panel of guest chefs including Mitch Tonks, Romy Gill MBE, Tom Hunt, Matt Tebbutt, Freddy Bird and Luke Holder.
All Eat Your Words events on Saturday are free but ticketed. Tickets for Kitchen Confidential on Sunday cost £10 and include a glass of bucks fizz and a breakfast snack. Tickets can be purchased online in advance via dartmouthfoodfestival.com/Events
