Event Information

Registration 6pm
Meeting begins 6.30pm
Drinks and food 7.30pm to 8.45pm

Guests are more than welcome to join us for the reception but please note that only members may attend the meeting itself.

At this years AGM our President, Xanthe Clay, and Vice-president, Clarissa Hyman, both step aside and hand over the reigns to a new dynamic duo who will be introducing themselves on the night.

After the business of this year’s AGM, we’re delighted that Guild member Niki Segnit is going to give a short talk that Niki has entitled, 'The food writer who fell to earth'. Niki will be talking to us about how her books – the Guild award-winning The Flavour Thesaurus and recently-released Lateral Cooking – came about, and engage in a Q&A with members. It promises to be a fascinating insight into how these books were written and received.

We would love members attending the AGM to bring along a dish of food to share. It could be something that uses flavour partnerships from The Flavour Thesaurus, or something inspired by Lateral Cooking, or anything else of your choosing. All we ask is that it comes ready to be served, and can be safely served at room temperature as we won't have facilities for chilling / reheating.

Please get in touch with Guild co-chair Angela Clutton (angelaclutton@yahoo.co.uk) if you’d like to bring along a dish to share.

There will be plenty of wine to accompany the food.

RSVP to Guild administrator Jonathan Woods (jonathan@gfw.co.uk).

The Annual General Meeting

It is important that as many of you as possible attend the Annual General Meeting. This is the opportunity for you, as members of the Guild to hear what has been happening during the last twelve months, for you to express views on Guild policies, and to raise issues that are of importance to you.

The Annual General Meeting has two other key purposes:

Debating and voting on resolutions proposed by members

If you have any resolutions for consideration at the meeting, please complete the relevant part of the form below and email it to the administrator, Jonathan Woods (jonathan@gfw.co.uk) by Monday 8 April 2019.

The election of new Committee members

This year we have four vacancies on the Committee. Committee members are expected to attend at least six meetings per year. Meetings take place on average once a month, in central London, and tend to be about two hours long. Travel expenses (within reason) for attendance at meetings are paid for committee members from all parts of the UK.

Three members have completed their four-year term on the committee and one member has stood down so we are looking for four new committee members this year.

Members of the Guild committee are responsible for all the Guild's activities from the awards and workshops to the website and newsletter and this includes everything from organisation to finding sponsors.

To nominate someone or stand for election yourself, please complete the relevant part of the form below and email it to the administrator, Jonathan Woods (jonathan@gfw.co.uk) by Monday 8 April 2019.

If you would like to learn more about what is involved in serving on the Committee, or about any of the tasks detailed here, please contact our Chairs, Angela Clutton (angelaclutton@yahoo.co.uk) and Genevieve Taylor (gen@genevievetaylor.co.uk) or any other member of the Committee.
