Networking Lunch in Devon

Thursday 18 July 2019

Darts Farm, Topsham, Exeter, Devon EX3 0QH

Time: 12.30pm
Price: £10 for members and £20 for guests

Event Information

The Guild has a high concentration of members living in the South West, no doubt attracted to the region by its fine reputation for food and drink.
This lunch is an opportunity for Guild members to get to know each other in relaxed surroundings, share experiences and make contact with colleagues living in the region. A three-course lunch, accompanied by a glass of wine, will be followed by a short tour of Darts Farm by one of the three energetic brothers behind the enterprise, Michael Dart.

If you don’t already know Darts Farm, it is a multi-award-winning farm shop in Topsham, on the Exe estuary. This year is its 25th anniversary, and during that time the Dart family has indefatigably championed local, seasonal produce. Long before ‘provenance’ was a fashionable word, the Dart family was encouraging producers in the region to be proud of our SW food heritage, and the farm shop – which has grown into a veritable emporium, with master butcher, fishmonger and cider maker on site – now attracts over 19,000 visitors per week.

Lunch – which Darts Farm is offering to Guild members at a remarkably generous price of £10 for members – will be held in either in the Restaurant, Fish Shed Terrace or Estuary Room, depending on numbers and weather. We will meet at 12.30pm, enjoy a leisurely lunch then at about 2.30pm embark on our guided tour of the Darts Farm shopping village. The event will finish at 3.00pm but (only a suggestion) – allow time for shopping.

This date has been chosen in case visitors would like to take in Exeter Farmers’ Market, which happens every Thursday morning. It isn’t the most glamorous, spread across the pavement where Fore Street meets South Street, in the centre of the city, but there are excellent things to be bought, including locally raised meat (specially rose veal), fish, honey and pies a-plenty.
Please advise of any dietary requirements when booking.

Getting to this Event

Darts Farm, Topsham, Exeter, Devon EX3 0QH

Topsham is extremely conveniently situated, four miles south of Exeter. It is 7 minutes from Junction 30 of the M5 – there is ample parking at Darts Farm. Alternatively, there are quaint local trains from Exeter Central Station to Topsham (15 minutes, departing every half hour) then a pretty 15 minute walk along the banks of the River Clyst to Darts Farm. (Note that Exeter Central is not the same as Exeter St Davids, though there are frequent connections between the two).
