Daffodil ‘Marguerite Patten’
14 September 2019
Guild members may remember that when Marguerite died in 2015 at the age of almost 100, the Guild committee commissioned the UK’s leading narcissus breeder, Ron Scamp of Falmouth, to name a daffodil in her honour. Marguerite adored daffodils, and the daffodil in question is pretty, highly floriferous and deliciously scented. Ron Scamp was recently crowned Master Grower at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Cardiff Flower Show for what was described as ‘a perfect show of narcissus’.
The picture shows a pot of ‘Marguerite Patten’ daffodils flowering in our president’s Exeter garden. If you would like to grow your own, a limited number of bulbs are available this autumn at £10 for five bulbs, for delivery this month. The bulbs will need to be ordered at once, and planted by early November at the latest: contact email@example.com.
