Keen young journalists happy to help!

GFW member Anna Turns teaches journalism students at Plymouth Marjon University where some of her undergrads are keen to gain work experience in magazine journalism (food/travel/lifestyle). With lockdown this is incredibly difficult right now but Anna would love to hear from any GFW members interested in delegating some work to second/third year undergraduates to enable them to gain some insight into real life as a journalist. This could include transcribing, doing background research, sourcing stock images, fact-checking, collating interview questions, help writing a regular newsletter or online content, perhaps even inviting them to observe an online editorial meeting for example. It would be great if you’d be willing to answer some questions from the students about how you got into the industry too and offer any advice you might have.

If there is anyone who would like to offer ad hoc work experience – it could be an odd day, or a few hours once a week, anything goes – Anna would be extremely grateful. Hopefully this would be of mutual benefit to GFW members and to the students. anna@environmentaljournalist.co.uk
