A Bespoke Online Masterclass with Rob Wicks

Following positive feedback from our small group masterclass with Rob Wicks on Tuesday 13 April, we are very pleased to be able to offer you a re-run of the event, following many requests from members. As before, this session will not be recorded and places cost £20. If you missed the last workshop, or indeed wish to take part again, please do book a place. We are offering a choice of two dates Thursday 20 May and Friday 21 May so when booking please do let us know if you have a preference. Please note that to manage costs, we will definitely run the masterclass on Thursday 20 May and will run an extra session on Friday 21 May in addition if there is sufficient demand.

Join us for an accessible short course in smart-phone food photography. We'll be applying simple tips and techniques to take our food photos to the next level. An informal and enjoyable zoom-session with practical advice, real-time demonstrations and simple exercises. Learning together about light, composition, food styling and simple post-production, so that our photos can start to look as mouth-watering as our cookery.

Rob Wicks points cameras at food for a living. He’s a producer-director specialising in short food films and photographs of food and drink. He worked for the BBC for 17 years and now runs his own food media business – Eat Pictures – producing mouth-watering films and photography in Bristol, UK.

You will need access to Zoom in your kitchen, a smartphone, a couple of photogenic ingredients or something you've made / baked / bought from that gorgeous bakery you love, and a little imagination.

You can see some of Rob's work at instagram.com/eatpictures

Numbers are very limited so please book as soon as possible.

This is a fully tutored masterclass and will include approximately a 1 hour demonstration and 30 minutes for questions. It is of necessity a paid-for event and places cost £20.

All of the Guild's current sessions are taking place through Zoom. Please email Guild administrator Jonathan Woods jonathan@gfw.co.uk to register and let Jonathan know if you have a preference as to which of the two dates – Thursday 20 May and Friday 21 May – you prefer.

Jonathan will then send you details of how to access the event on Zoom.
