Smarter food pictures with your smartphone
Taking great photos is an ever-more essential part of any food writer’s repertoire, and smartphone technology has made it easier than ever to record what we cook and eat. This masterclass is designed to help us create beautiful images that will stand out on whatever platforms we choose to publish our pictures, even when light conditions are challenging and time is short.
The workshop will be led by Guild member Genevieve Taylor (www.genevievetaylor.co.uk
), food writer and stylist, and Rob Wicks (eatpictures.com
), a photographer and film maker who specialises in food and drink.
Genevieve is hosting us in her own kitchen where she will cook various dishes and offer styling tips while Rob will give hands-on guidance and one-to-one advice on how to capture the best shots. We will then share a convivial lunch along with a glass of wine or two.
Directions: Bristol is well known as a brilliant city for food lovers, and many Guild members have chosen to make it their home. If you’d like to stay on and make a weekend of it, we’d be very happy to offer advice on the best places to stay, eat and drink.
This is an opportunity to learn from two extremely experienced professionals and we are very grateful to Genevieve and Rob for offering to share their knowledge with members of the Guild.
Places on this workshop cost £50 and are strictly limited to eight so do book soon. Please make sure you bring a fully charged smartphone with enough free memory to take lots of pictures, and the Instagram app installed with an account created.
