Ramona Andrews

Experienced food and lifestyle writer and digital content producer. Clients include BBC Food website, Zone digital agency, delicious. magazine, UKTV Food (now Good Food Channel), Zagat Survey, Expedia, Bristol Food Network, Triodos Bank and Riverford. Also worked as a restaurant reviewer for Time Out and Square Meal, and as a recipe tester and editor for various publishers. Ramona has developed and styled recipes and other content (copy, video and imagery) directly for food brands, and for brands via digital and ad agencies. In 2019 Ramona completed an MSc in Food Policy at City, University of London.

Special subjects

Environmental sustainability and food policy; urban farming; food and packaging waste; digital food marketing; Ramona’s research subjects during her MSc in Food Policy at City include tackling food marketing to children in a digital world; avocado value chains and Mexican drug cartel extortion demands; social and cultural issues influencing policy design around reducing antibiotic use in UK agriculture; and fast food and the ‘lived experience’ of the Somali community in Bristol and how inclusive planning policy can be used as a tool for improving the food landscape in the city. Ramona’s interest in food policy is primarily focussed on urban food systems and the integration of public health, environmental sustainability and livelihoods.

Regular work

Recipe editing and copywriting for BBC Food website; ongoing Comms projects with Bristol Waste Company, including the #SlimMyWaste #FeedMyFace campaign, focussed on increasing food recycling in the city; writing and styling recipes for Piccolo cherry tomatoes.

Advisory boards / Awards

Ramona is a regular judge for the Great Taste Awards since 2015. Ramona’s family is one of eight families running a city smallholding (Bramble Farm) in Bristol that includes pigs, chickens, ducks, lamb and a large shared vegetable patch.
