Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2020: National Winners
A cornucopia of Guild members has won national awards in the first stage of this year’s Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.
- One Pot Feeds All by Darina Allen (Kyle Books) has won the Irish award for the Best Cooking School / Education Book.
- Bloomsbury has won the US award for the Best General Food Book Publisher for Lateral Cooking by Niki Segnit.
- A Taste of Scotland’s Islands by Sue Lawrence (Birlinn) has won the Scotland (UK) award for the Best Local Regions Book.
- Fire Islands: Recipes from Indonesia by Eleanor Ford (Murdoch Books) has won the Australian award for the Best International Book and the Best Spices Book.
- Rick Stein’s Secret France (BBC Books) has won the UK award for the Best French Book.
- The Food of Sichuan by Fuchsia Dunlop (Bloomsbury) has won the UK award for the Best Chinese Book.
- Indian in 7 by Monisha Bharadwaj (Kyle Books) has won the UK award for the Best Indian/ Sri Lankan Book.
- A Half Baked Idea: How grief, love and cake took me from the courtroom to Le Cordon Bleu by Olivia Potts (Fig Tree) has won the UK award for the Best Food Writing Book.
- Delicioso: A History of Food in Spain by María José Sevilla (Reaktion Books) has won the UK award for the Best Culinary History Book.
- A Hastiness of Cooks by Cynthia D Bertelsen (Turquoise Moon Press) has won the US award for the Best Culinary History Book.
- Pinch of Nom by Kate Allinson and Kay Featherstone (Blue Bird) has won the UK award for the Best Diet Book.
- Mustard: A Global History by Demet Güzey (Reaktion Books) has won the UK award for the Best Spices Book.
- Wok On by Ching-He Huang (Kyle Books) has won the UK award for the Best Easy Recipes Book.
- Glorious Game by Ben Tish (Face) has won the UK awards for the Best Single Subject Book, the Best Meat Book and the Best Charity Cookbook.
- The Perfect Afternoon Tea Recipe Book by Antony Wild and Carol Pastor (Lorenz Books) has won the UK award for the Best Pastry & Desserts Book.
- The Flexible Pescatarian by Jo Pratt (White Lion) has won the UK award for the Best Fish & Seafood Book.
The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards were founded in 1995 by Edouard Cointreau and every year they honour the very best food and wine books, printed or digital, as well as food television.
