Sam Bilton is a freelance food writer, presenter and cook specialising in food history. Sam has written three food history books to date: First Catch Your Gingerbread (2020); Fool's Gold: A History of British Saffron (2021) and The Philosophy of Chocolate (2023). Sam also writes articles for organisations such as Eaten Magazine, English Heritage, Wicked Leeks and National Geographic Traveller. Her food history podcast Comfortably Hungry launched in 2022. Sam was an Awards Coordinator for the Guild of Food Writers committee and has served as Secretary and Co Vice Chair on the committee between 2017 and 2021 .
