Carolyn Boyd

Carolyn is an editor, writer and consultant with 20 years experience in travel, food and drink, culture and history. Specialising in France thanks to nearly ten years as Editor of the award-winning France Magazine, she writes for national newspapers including The Guardian and Financial Times as well as leading international titles such as National Geographic Traveller and BBC Travel. On going freelance in May 2016, she wrote the France edition of Lonely Planet's recipe book series 'From the Source' for which she interviewed 65 local French chefs about their favourite traditional recipes, translating, testing and reworking them. The book was published in August 2017. Her latest book 'Amuse Bouche: How to eat your way around France', was published by Profile Books in June 2024, and is a collection of more than 200 vignettes about French regional dishes and ingredients and how, through their stories, you can learn about the history, culture and landscape of France. It was named by The Times as one of the ten best food & drink books of 2024.
Alongside her freelance work, she is PR and Communications Manager for the Roux Scholarship, the prestigious competition for young British chefs. The wide-ranging role includes managing all the communications, including press releases, stakeholder communications and social media.
