Christian Gott

Full-time chef, qualified post-16 teacher, and one-time restaurant manager, I try to cook good food and sometimes write about it. I’ve lived on six islands, hence the title of my blog, working in probably just about every type of hospitality business you can imagine. From beachside burger joints to famous pizza and jazz bars, and in more than a few really good food pubs, historic country inns, and a former RAC Blue Ribbon UK Hotel of the Year. I love cooking ( and eating ) Chinese, Italian, and sticky smoky BBQ food as well as a substantial amount of seafood and I have a serious cheese addiction. I have a bit of a thing for retro dishes, I just love a good prawn cocktail and am partial to a nice glass of wine with my dinner. I recently passed my WSET level two wine training and post about my wine discoveries online. I am lucky enough to now live in the Channel Islands working for a local brewery, where there is an abundance of amazing artisan food and drink producers as well as growers, farmers, and fishermen across Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark, and Herm. They make fantastic cakes, pickles, curry sauces, sweets, milk and cheese, award-winning beer, and small-batch spirits. They grow and catch hand-dived scallops, oysters, sumptuous seafood, the world-famous Jersey Royals, rare breed pigs, and Jersey and Guernsey cattle. I hope in my writing I can share some of my passion for this bounty and food in general.
