Let it Bleed
‘Occasionally the title of a drawing presents itself to me first, which then determines the way the drawing goes. That happened with this one. I had been listening on the radio to GFW patron, Delia Smith, who was mentioning how early on in her career, she had been asked to make a cake for the cover of the Rolling Stones album ‘Let It Bleed’. As I was planning to draw beetroots for March, just wasn’t sure how, once I had the album title in my head, I aimed to allow the beets in the drawing to bleed and get a little bit juicy.’
