Sam Bilton is a freelance food writer and cook specialising in food history. She writes a food blog called Comfortably Hungry and also runs a historically themed supper club called Repast in Sussex. She was the Food & Drink Editor for a local lifestyle magazine in Sussex for 3 years and is a regular contributor to the English Heritage blog. Her first book on the history of gingerbread (First Catch Your Gingerbread, Prospect Books) was published in 2020. Sam is an Awards Coordinator for the Guild of Food Writers committee and has served as Secretary and Co Vice Chair on the committee between 2017 and 2021 .
