Louise Johncox

I am the author of The Baker’s Daughter – Timeless Recipes from four generations of bakers (Pan Macmillan) and A Life Shaped by Cakes (the longer version PhD baking memoir available as an Ebook).
I’m a journalist who has written articles published in The Sunday Times, The Times, The Telegraph and The Guardian. I was born in Weybridge, Surrey, where my father worked as a baker and chocolatier in the family tea shop from 1958 to 2000. I come from a long line of pastry chefs originating from Poschiavo on the Swiss Italian border. Instead of following in the family tea shop tradition, I trained as a journalist. I worked as a staff writer on The Times where I commissioned food articles for The Times Magazine and as Assistant Editor on Sunday Times, Style. I’m a former lecturer at Bath Spa University where I completed my PhD in Creative Writing. I wrote a monthly column, On The Tea Shop Trail, for Surrey Life magazine. I am currently researching and writing my second food book.
