No Dig Allotment Feature Garden at RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival

Steph Hafferty reports: ‘I have been invited to co-design a feature garden for the first RHS garden show since lockdown began last March. It was originally scheduled for last summer, so we are very much hoping it will happen this year. This is an amazing opportunity to share how to grow great food from the smallest plot to market gardens, and it is so lovely to have something to look forward to!

‘The garden demonstrates a productive food garden, using organic methods to grow fruit, veg, herbs and edible flowers year round without digging. An annual mulch of compost feeds the soil and soil life for a year, increasing soil biology, locking in carbon and enhancing soil fertility.

‘I will be there for the build, and every day during the show at the garden itself, and also giving talks on the gardening and food stages. The garden is co-designed with Charles Dowding. The show runs from Tuesday 6 to Sunday 11 July.
