Event Information

Join Guild members Kate Young (thelittlelibrarycafe.com and author of The Little Library Christmas), Regula Ysewijn (missfoodwise.com and author of The Official Downton Abbey Christmas Cookbook) and Sam Bilton (sambilton.com and author of First Catch Your Gingerbread) for a festive natter over a cup of tea and a mince pie or two. They will be chatting about their favourite literary repasts, celebrating Christmas Downton style and the history of that popular yuletide confection, gingerbread.  Don’t forget to bring along your favourite yuletide treat to nibble on too.

Kate Young

Kate Young is an award-winning food writer, cook and bookworm. Her first book, The Little Library Cookbook, was shortlisted for the Fortnum & Mason Debut Food Book Award, and won a World Gourmand food writing award. Her second, The Little Library Year, a literary and culinary almanac, was shortlisted for the General Cookbook Award by the Guild of Food Writers. Her latest book is 2020's The Little Library Christmas.

Regula Ysewijn

Regula Ysewijn is a Belgian culinary historian, author of 6 books and a photographer. Regula is a judge on the Flemish version of The Great British Bake Off in Belgium. Her books Pride and Pudding, the history of British puddings, savoury and sweet and Belgian Café Culture were both lauded by the BBC Radio Four's The Food Programme. Pride and Pudding was also shortlisted for the Fortnum & Mason and the Andre Simon Awards. Her publications of 2020 are Oats in the North, Wheat from the South and The Official Downton Abbey Christmas Cookbook. She has also written a book for the National Trust.

Sam Bilton

Sam is a food historian, writer and cook based in Sussex. She runs a historically themed supper club called Repast and is the Guild’s Co-Vice Chair and Awards Coordinator.
