Chefs in Schools e-book

Emma Winterschladen has let us know about an e-cookbook she has been involved with Staying In: recipes and stories from isolation. ‘100% of the proceeds are going to the charity Chefs in Schools' emergency appeal to help feed vulnerable children who have lost out on their free school meals due to school closures. The money raised will help fund their frontline work in cooking and distributing weekly “lunch boxes”. Each box feeds a family with pre-prepared hot lunches for five days, plus cereal and fruit.

‘The project was created by photographer Issy Croker, who has cooked, styled and shot everything whilst in isolation herself. I've been editing the book, and also contributed a few recipes for it, alongside 29 other chefs and food writers (lots of them GFW members). Contributors include Anna Jones, Melissa Hemsley, Rosie Birkett, Edd Kimber, Gizzi Erskine. Meera Sodha and Thomasina Miers.’

‘With The Food Foundation’s April 2020 YouGov survey showing that 507,000 children are still without the free school meals they relied on before the lockdown, there’s work to be done and quickly in feeding those who have lost such vital food security due to COVID-19.

‘The e-cookbook is available to download via a “pay what you can” (minimum £5) donation over on stayinginthebook.com.

‘We’ll be sharing across social media with the hashtag #StayingInTheBook.’
