DEFRA are looking to introduce new laws which tackle illegal deforestation in the food supply chain. In their consultation, launched last week, they asked whether larger food businesses should be held accountable for the source of ingredients. Gardeners in Cambridge have capitalised on their spare time during lockdown and taken over some empty land, to create a brand-new market garden to serve locals. Produce from the initiative helps to stock local community hubs and ensure that everyone has access to fresh, local produce.
